Erased cultures
This project responds to research into how glocalization and cultural erosion have caused an increased dominance of Western culture; speculating a future where global culture has become homogenised.
Redesigned navigational tools are used to emphasis the importance of complex cultural systems, by forcing the viewer to imagine the result of them being removed all together. A world map print and jigsaw, consider how the existing world map design would adapt to a cultureless world: how would land boundaries adapt? would flags no longer be relevant?
An accompanying encyclopedia defines modern civilisation into four simple sectors: land, humans, animals, food.
Considering the human instinct for categorisation, even in a hugely simplified context.
